Directions - Duke University East Campus Music Venues
NELSON MUSIC ROOM
From Chapel Hill/I-40 East
- Take 15/501 north.
- Exit at Durham Freeway (#147) heading south.
- Take Swift Avenue exit. Turn left at the top of the ramp onto Swift Avenue.
- At stoplight take a right onto Main Street.
- Take a left into main entrance of Duke Campus.
- East Duke Building is the first building on the right.
- Nelson Music Room is on the second floor of this building.
From Raleigh/I-40 West
- Exit onto Durham Freeway (#147) heading north.
- Continue about 8 miles to Swift Avenue exit. Turn right at the top of the ramp onto Swift Avenue.
- At stoplight take a right onto Main Street.
- Take a left into main entrance of Duke Campus.
- East Duke Building is the first building on the right.
- Nelson Music Room is on the second floor of this building.
*Nelson Music Room is accessible by elevator from Richard White Auditorium, immediately adjacent to East Duke.
BALDWIN AUDITORIUM / THE MARY DUKE BIDDLE MUSIC BUILDING
From Chapel Hill/I-40 East
- Take 15/501 north.
- Exit at Durham Freeway (#147) heading south.
- Take Swift Avenue exit. Turn left at the top of the ramp onto Swift Avenue.
- Cross the railroad tracks and continue through the stop light (East Campus will be on your right).
- Turn right on Markham.
- The Mary Duke Biddle Music Building is a long, low, ivy-covered building that backs up to Markham.
- Baldwin Auditorium is to its left, farther down Markham. Its dome is very visible from the street.
- There is free parking available on Markham and surrounding streets. There are also campus parking lots that can be used without permits after 5 pm on weekdays and any time on weekends.
