Voice master class with mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Bishop of the Metropolitan Opera

Mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Bishop, in the Triangle for a performance with North Carolina Opera, conducted a master class in the Mary Duke Biddle Music Building on January 22, 2013.

Four Duke students (Lauren DeLucia, Sarah Gordon, Michelle Lemani, and Ivy Zhou) and two UNC-Chapel Hill students (Kaswanna Kanyinda and Maria Palumbo) participated in the master class.

Elizabeth Bishop has been praised by Opera News for her "gorgeous voice" and is in equal demand for both opera and concert performances across the country. Audiences and critics alike recognize her as one of this country's predominant singing actresses. Her 2012-13 season engagements include a return to the Metropolitan Opera for its productions of Les Troyens and Das Rheingold, and to sing as Mere Marie in Dialogues des Carmelites.
