Duke Opera Workshop
The Duke Opera Workshop, directed by Susan Dunn,
presents staged chamber operas and operatic scenes. Recent performances have included the one-act opera
A Game of Chance by Seymour Barab, a fully-staged production of The Marriage of Figaro, and staged portions of The Magic Flute, The Ballad of Baby Doe, and Fidelio.
In 2006, the ensemble presented the premiere of The Gift of the Magi, a new one-act opera by Duke University graduate student, Caroline Mallonée.
Candide, West Side Story and Wonderful Town. In the spring, the workshop will again present a program of operatic excerpts staged and with costumes.
Rehearsals are Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. To join the Duke Opera Workshop, come to the first meeting on Wednesday, August 29 at 4:30 pm in Baldwin Auditorium. Please bring something to sing.
