Duke University Wind Symphony
The Duke University Wind Symphony, directed by Verena Mösenbichler-Bryant, is composed largely of non-majors (both undergraduate and graduate) who wish to challenge themselves by performing the finest wind and percussion literature at a high level of artistry.
The Wind Symphony gives at least four formal concerts each year, exploring musical styles from the Medieval Period to the 21st Century. Programs feature chamber works and pieces that employ the lush sonorities of the large symphonic ensemble. Compositions by such composers as Susato, Bach, Mozart, Holst, Grainger, Susa, Ives, Gershwin, Hindemith, and those writing for the medium today are performed.

Rehearsals: Tuesday and Thursday, 7:30-9:30 pm.
Auditions: Students should prepare approximately 4-5 minutes of music that demonstrate their best playing ability.
The student may choose to perform two short examples, one to demonstrate technical proficiency and another featuring tone quality, phrasing and musical sensitivity.
Students will be asked to sight-read at the audition.
No scales are required.
THE AUDITION SIGN UP SHEET WILL BE POSTED ON THE BULLETIN BOARD ACROSS BONE HALL (located in the Biddle Music Building on East Campus) THE WEEK BEFORE CLASSES START. Auditions will be held during the first week of classes.
