Storytelling Son Jarocho and the Fandango de Durham

Course invites students to explore music, migration, and community through hands-on, collaborative research with local Latinx artists and tradition-bearers in Durham. Centered on the son jarocho tradition from Veracruz, Mexico and the annual Fandango de Durham, the course brings together oral history, documentary practice, and cultural event planning as interconnected ways of learning.
