"Carmen Inside Out" is a unique 50-minute one-woman performance, telling the story of Bizet's Carmen from Carmen's perspec tive through singing, Flamenco dancing, and monologue. Q&A with artists following the performance. Since beginning her professional operatic career in 1999, Kirstin Chávez has performed numerous opera roles and countless concerts in countries throughout the world, including Canada, Mexico, the USA, France, Germany, England, Wales, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Japan, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Australia. Although she is well known for her interpretations of many modern roles in contemporary operas, she is best known the world over as a premier interpreter of the role of Carmen from Georges Bizet's opera "Carmen." Qiao Zheng Goh is a sought after collaborative pianist who performs throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Passionate about contemporary music, she regularly participates in contemporary composers' conferences, and coaches vocal music with leading composers and vocalists. She was the pianist for the North Carolina premier gala of Jennifer Higdon's opera "Cold Mountain," performing selections from the opera with its star vocalists. Recent concert engagements include performing for the Governor of North Carolina and the North Carolina Arts Council. Qiao is MusicDirector/Opera Répétiteur, as well as a vocal coach, at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Presented in association with the Duke Dance Program.
