Duke Jazz Ensemble with guest artist Chris Pattishall, piano
GRAMMY-nominated jazz pianist and Durham native Chris Pattishall was at Duke in November as part of a year-long residency exploring the life and legacy of Mary Lou Williams - a musical inheritance that crystallizes on his debut album, 'Zodiac,' which reimagines Williams' 1945 masterwork 'Zodiac Suite.'
Now, Pattishall returns to perform with the Duke Jazz Ensemble, directed by John V. Brown with Evan Roberson, associate director.
"Pattishall seems to have creative energy to burn, plus a desire to push at the harmonic borders." - JazzTimes
