Carl Schimmel (Ph.D. Composition, 2008) receives 2018 Guggenheim Fellowship

Schimmel received one of 173 Guggenheim Fellowships awarded to a diverse group of scholars based on "prior achievement and exceptional promise."

Associate Professor of Music Theory and Composition at Illinois State University, Schimmel has also won Columbia University’s Joseph Bearns Prize, the Lee Ettelson Award, and the 2017 Goddard Lieberson Fellowship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
