Carl Schimmel's "Two Variations on Ascent into the Empyrean," was one of seven new pieces selected for the American Composers Orchestra's 24th Annual Underwood New Music Readings. The winning compositions were chosen from a pool of over 200 applicants and were presented on May 6 and 7, 2015 at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York.
