Composer John Supko, Hunt Family Assistant Professor of Music, will have his new work, ALL SOULS, premiered by New Music Raleigh and Canadian vocalist Ashleigh Semkiw on November 17 at the National Gallery in Washington, DC as part of the 65th American Music Festival. ALL SOULS is a setting of nine excerpts drawn from Cees Nooteboom’s novel All Souls Day. A concert piece utilizing a blend of orchestral composition, electronic sampling, and live and recorded voices, ALL SOULS brings to life the intense relationship of a widowed, middle-aged documentary filmmaker, and a beautiful, mysterious woman half his age, whom he meets in wintery Berlin. North Carolina Opera will present ALL SOULS at CAM Raleigh on November 25. More information and tickets.
