Class Improvisation (MUS 101-5)

Free, classically-based improvisation in a wide range of styles. Foundational exercises in listening; call-and-response; working with varied chord structures; extended instrumental and vocal techniques; musical dialog and storytelling; pacing and timing; emotional expression and catharsis; and making effective formal and dramatic shapes together in real time. At least two public performances during the semester. No prior improv experience necessary to register!
