Event Parking Information

Please note parking changes:

Due to construction, the Pegram lot in front of the Biddle Music Building is inaccessible, limiting on-campus parking off Markham Avenue. Additional parking is available in the Bishop’s House and Basset/Brown Residence Hall lots. Please enter on North Buchanan Blvd across from Dacian Avenue. (602 N. Buchanan Blvd). 


Public parking is available along Markham Avenue and side streets, and in East Campus lots from 5pm to 7am. (East Campus lots require permits 7am to 5pm M-F.)

Parking Area #1  (Bivins lot) principle parking for Baldwin Auditorium. This lot is accessible via the campus entrance located at the intersection of West Markham Avenue and Sedgefield Street.

Parking Area #2 (Asbury United Methodist Church) on the corner of Clarendon Street and W. Markham Avenue. This is a public lot, please follow any posted parking signs.

Parking Area #3 (Bishop’s House and Basset/Brown Residence Hall lots) This lot is accessible via the campus entrance located at the intersection of North Buchanan Boulevard and Dacian Avenue.


ACCESSIBLE PARKING

Accessible drop off is available in Baldwin Loop, behind Baldwin Auditorium.

Accessible Parking is available in Parking Areas #1-3 .

Parking #2 (Brown / Bishop) provides accessible and additional general parking for Baldwin. These lots are accessible via the campus entrance located at the intersection of North Buchanan Boulevard and Dacian Avenue. These lots will not be serviced by Duke Parking and are available after 5pm on a first come basis.

DIRECTIONS

  • From Raleigh and the East: Via I-40 West: Merge onto 147 N via Exit 279B toward Durham/Downtown. From 147 N take Exit 14 and turn RIGHT onto Swift Avenue. Continue through the traffic light (Swift Avenue becomes Broad Street). Turn RIGHT onto Markham Avenue, and take another right if continuing to North Buchanan Blvd. Parking is available along Markham Avenue. Non permit-holders may park in surrounding campus lots after 5pm.
  • From Chapel Hill and the South: Via US 15-501 North: From the US-15-501 Bypass N, take the exit for Durham Freeway NC 147 South. From 147 S take Exit 14 and turn LEFT onto Swift Avenue. Continue through the traffic light (Swift Avenue becomes Broad Street). Turn RIGHT onto Markham Avenue. Parking is available along Markham Avenue, and take another right if continuing to North Buchanan Blvd. Non permit-holders may park in surrounding campus lots after 5pm.
  • From Virginia and the North: Via I-85 South: Exit onto Durham Freeway NC 147 South. From 147 S take Exit 14 and turn LEFT onto Swift Avenue. Continue through the traffic light (Swift Avenue becomes Broad Street). Turn RIGHT onto Markham Avenue, and take another right if continuing to North Buchanan Blvd. Parking is available along Markham Avenue.   • From the Triad and the West: Via 1-85 North: Exit onto Durham Freeway NC 147 South. From 147 S, take Exit 14 and turn LEFT onto Swift Avenue.
