Organ Recital Series - Robert Parkins
Sunday, March 24, 2019 - 5:15pm
Dr. Robert Parkins is the University Organist and a Professor of the Practice of Music at Duke. His recordings have appeared on the Calcante, Gothic, Musical Heritage Society, and Naxos labels, and his performances have been described as "fresh and spontaneous, transforming the music from museum artifacts to living works of beauty" (The Diapason). This season's recital, "J. S. Bach and His Predecessors," will feature works of Bach and earlier composers who influenced him. Presented on the Brombaugh and Flentrop organs, the program will include music by Frescobaldi, Böhm, Buxtehude, Pachelbel, and Grigny.
