Claire Fontijn's research centers on early music and women composers. She is the author of Desperate Measures: The Life and Music of Antonia Padoani Bembo (OUP, 2006). In November 2017, she returned to Duke to give a pre-concert lecture for "The Sound World of Carlo Dolci," at the Nasher Museum of Art.
