Dayton Kinney (Ph.D. Composition, 2021) has been selected for the Second Round in the senior category of the International Antonin Dvorak Composition Competition for her doctoral dissertation piece, Of My Own! In July 2023, she will compete in Prague, Czech Republic, for the chance to win or place among the eleven other Second Round participants.
Her work for string quartet, "The Canary Who Sang," was performed by Sirius Quartet as part of their concert Playing on the Edge 2: Modern String Quartet Works. The concert took place in Carnegie Hall-Weill on September 30, 2022.
"The Canary Who Sang" was composed in 2016 and was was recorded and published on Sirius Quartet's album Music On The Edge Volume 2 (Navona Records, 2020).
