Gavin Lee's edited volume Queer Ear: Remaking Music Theory won the 2024 Society for Music Theory Outstanding Multi-author Collection award.
Lee graduated in 2014 from Duke University's musicology doctoral program before teaching in China for nine years and is now appointed as senior lecturer at Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He gave a keynote for the 2023 Musicological Society for Australia, and was awarded the Elizabeth Wood fellowship from University of Adelaide in 2024. He currently serves as an editor of IMS Musicological Brainfood, and on the Society for Ethnomusicology Council, Indiana Theory Review editorial board, and international advisory board of University of Adelaide Musicology and Ethnomusicology Hub.
