Duke Opera Theater: Opera Adjacent – It’s better with a band!

Concert performance of operetta and classic musical theater with pianist Daniel Seyfried, joined by Anne Leyland, violin and Nathan Leyland, cello. Duke Opera Theater is directed by David Heid.

Anne Leyland has performed as soloist with the Pensacola Symphony, Ft. Myers Symphony, Congress of Strings Orchestra, and the Louisiana State University Orchestra. While in Pittsburgh, she performed as first violinist in numerous orchestras, including the Pittsburgh Opera and Ballet Orchestra, and was first violinist with the Mezzanine String Quartet. Currently, Ms. Leyland is the Concertmaster of the Durham Symphony and is a first violinist with the North Carolina Opera. In addition to performing regularly with the Fayetteville Symphony, Ms Leyland has enjoyed performing in such North Carolina groups as the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, and the Charleston, Savannah, Charlotte, and North Carolina Symphonies.

Nathan Leyland attended the Manhattan School of Music and began his professional career at the age of 20, becoming the cellist of the Pioneer String Quartet. In addition, he was Principal Cellist of The Des Moines Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Leyland moved to North Carolina in 2001 and began performing regularly with the North Carolina Symphony, Carolina Ballet, and NC Opera. Currently, he is the principal cellist of the North Carolina Opera, Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra, and a member of the Mallarme Chamber Players. He has performed as soloist with orchestras across the country, notably, The Hartford Symphony, Des Moines Symphony Orchestra, Welsh Hills Chamber Orchestra, and the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra.

Daniel Seyfried is a Staff Accompanist in the Duke University Department of Music. He earned his D.M.A. in Piano Performance and a Cognate in Pedagogy from UNC-Greensboro in 2017. He has had many professional engagements including a lecture recital at The University of California at Berkeley, guest performances at The Manhattan School of Music, a Steinway Spotlight Performance in North Carolina, a recital in Taipei, Taiwan, and many rewarding regional performances.
