Jonathan Bagg and Guest Musicians: Remembrance

Saturday, January 31, -
Join violist Jonathan Bagg, longtime member of the Ciompi Quartet, for an intimate and contemplative evening of chamber music that explores memory, reflection, and artistic legacy. Bagg is joined by an ensemble of exceptional guest artists: violinist Nicholas DiEugenio, cellist Raman Ramakrishnan, flutist Laura Gilbert, and pianist Mimi Solomon-all celebrated performers known for their versatility, sensitivity, and commitment to contemporary music.

At the heart of the program is a new work by Duke composer Scott Lindroth, whose music is admired for its vivid colors, structural imagination, and emotional immediacy. Lindroth's close collaborations with Duke faculty performers give his pieces a uniquely personal resonance, making this premiere especially meaningful.

The concert also features chamber works by Max Reger, Lior Navok, and Margaret Bonds, creating a rich tapestry of musical voices across eras and styles. From Reger's late-Romantic intensity to Navok's lyrical modernism and Bonds's soulful, enduring expressiveness, the program illuminates the many ways composers channel remembrance-of people, places, and artistic traditions-into sound.

Presented in the warm acoustics of the Nelson Music Room, Remembrance invites listeners into a space of thoughtful beauty and profound musical connection.

Free and open to the public. All are welcome.
