In his recital this year, University Organist Dr. Robert Parkins features the Brombaugh and Flentrop organs in works by early Portuguese composers, Frescobaldi, Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Heiller, and Bovet.
A professor of the practice of music at Duke, Dr. Parkins's solo recordings have appeared on the Calcante, Gothic, Loft, Musical Heritage Society, and Naxos labels. "Salome's Dance," his most recent release, elicited the following remark from one critic (in The American Organist): "His playing is elegant, with a freely flowing musicality that goes far beyond mere technical mastery."
Admission is free. Paid parking is available on a first-come-first-served basis in the Bryan Center Garage at 125 Science Drive. ADA parking is available in surface lot at the same address.

A beloved cornerstone of the Chapel Music calendar, the Organ Recital Series showcases internationally acclaimed organists performing enduring favorites, modern masterpieces, and original improvisations. The Chapel's Kathleen Upton Byrns McClendon Organ (Aeolian, 1932), Benjamin N. Duke Memorial Organ (Flentrop, 1976), and Brombaugh Organ (1997) are all featured in the series.
