The string quartet of French pianist/composer Marie Jaëll was written in 1875, but was never performed or published in her lifetime. In 2009, Sébastien Troester discovered her unpublished manuscript in the archives of the National and University Library of Strasbourg. The Ciompi Quartet gave the North American premiere in February of 2019 in Baldwin Auditorium, 144 years after it was written.
