Sid Richardson (Ph.D Composition, 2018) at Tanglewood Music Center

Tanglewood premiered two movements of Richardson's dissertation piece Red Wind, which was recorded with Duke Performances in April 2017, and features professor Nathaniel Mackey's poetry. The premiere took place on July 21 at 10am in the Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood. Other works on the program included pieces by George Crumb, Lukas Foss, and Krzysztof Penderecki.

Sid Richardson has also participated in artist residencies at Crosstown Arts, The Hermitage Artist Retreat, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. In 2017, The American Academy of Arts and Letters awarded him a Charles Ives Scholarship. He was the recipient of the 2018 Hermitage Prize from the Aspen Music Festival and School.
