Voice Students Advance to National Auditions

Group shot of Duke voice students

On March 10, eleven Duke voice students traveled to Lynchburg, VA to participate in the Mid-Atlantic Regionals of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Student Auditions with other college singers from Maryland; Washington, DC; Virginia; North Carolina and South Carolina.

Some categories were so large that they were split into two rooms.  The students who placed in those rooms had a sing-off round to determine which 5 or 6 will advance to the initial online round of the National Student Auditions (NSA) with students from all over the country.

Duke students advancing to the NSA online round from the Mid-Atlantic are:

Studio of Sandra Cotton:
Julia Leeman (Second year treble)  2nd place in split category; 1st in sing-off, NSA
Sophia Leeman (Second year treble)  3rd place in split category; sing-off, NSA

Studio of Ted Federle:
Francesca Herrera (Fourth year treble)  2nd place, NSA

Studio of Elizabeth Linnartz:
Lauren Strauch (First year treble)  3rd in split; 1st place in sing-off, NSA
Claire Hardek (First year treble)  2nd in split; sing-off, NSA
Branch Worsham (Third year TBB) NSA

Thanks to our wonderful Duke accompanist Dr. Daniel Seyfried, who made this participation possible!
